If you read newspapers or listen to the radio, you are constantly informed of the multitudes of health-related problems besetting countries all over the world. You hear cases involving people who are suffering from heart attacks, kidney diseases, cancer and other illnesses. However, you don’t get to hear stories or reports involving a pretty easy yet bittersweet answer to most of these illnesses – beer.

Yes, beer. As in malt. As in barley. Beer.

So if you’re thinking exactly how beer can help keep your heart and overall health in tip top shape, read on.

Studies have shown that drinking two bottles of beer a day for men and a single bottle of better for women can actually be good for the heart. A study was conducted by Tufts University and according to such study, the consumption of beer in moderate amounts can actually decrease one’s cholesterol level as well as reduce the amount of fibrinogen in the blood (this is a protein that is responsible for blood clotting). Not only that, it can help increase the level of antioxidants in the body. Bear in mind that the advice is merely one or two bottles of beer a day.

Which brings us to the question – are all beers created equally, though?

Experts say – no, not really.

This is because although one can get health benefits from all beers, the ones considered as dark beers are actually the ones better for your health compared to those considered as lighter colored beers. Compared to light beer, dark beer contains more flavonoids – these come from plants and are also found in chocolate and red wine. Flavonoids have been found effective in preventing cancer and in promoting a healthy heart and are also very present in apples.

Moreover, if heart illnesses run in your family, you may want to listen to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. The said academic institution found in their research that drinking a moderate amount of beer daily can decrease your risk of coronary disease by about thirty to forty percent.

This is a great study to show your wife when she complains about you drinking a bottle of beer or two every evening. Now you can readily reply: “Sorry honey but I’m doing it for us, not for me.” And maybe an excuse to get yourself a Draught beer dispenser.

Beer drinkers may no longer switch to wine if they want to get the health benefits of alcohol, because now they can get them from their favorite beverage. Of course, if you want more information about the effects of beer on your health, you should definitely consult your physician. Beer drinking can be dangerous for people who have certain health conditions or who take some medications. If you are already a casual beer drinker, you don’t have to give it up to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

Beer, anyone?

There is no question that exercise is beneficial to all of us, whether you do it at home, outside, or in a gym. It keeps our bodies in excellent health and shape. It also helps us maintain good health. However, is there such a thing as too much exercise? When is exercise considered too much?

The following article hopes to enlighten when exercise might not serve its purpose. When you’re engaged in a workout, for instance, it is crucial that you do not put unnecessary and obviously, unneeded, pressure on any parts of your body. This will not spur anything good for your body.

One: Consider the status of your health before you begin the exercise. You have to ensure first that you are fit and healthy. It is particularly ideal to have a medical check-up first before you embark on an exercise regimen. This is especially true if you are recuperating from a certain sickness.

Two: Start exercising but do it gradually – slowly but surely. Do not immediately launch a rigorous workout regimen. You must first introduce the regimen slowly but surely and then gradually let your body systems properly carry out the exercise routines.

Three: Buy or wear clothes that are comfortable and are fit for exercise. Give attention also to the weather condition in your choice of clothing.

Four: Exercise regularly. Schedule time for you to do your exercise. Results will not come overnight so you have to be adamant. Most importantly, never expect instant results or transformations!

Five: Make sure that you do not get dehydrated nor get too overheated. Heat exhaustion is dangerous.

A more lengthy discussion is in order regarding heat exhaustion and how to avoid it. Some reminders can be handy: you need to drink a lot of fluids. Your body will quickly experience dehydration if you don’t replenish lost fluids. Lost fluids can be replaced by drinking sports drinks or mineral water. Keep a bottle of these replacement drinks ready at all times when you’re doing your exercise.

In times of really warm weather, you may want to do your exercise routines in the evenings. Alternatively, you can also do your routine in the early mornings. Indoor exercise can also be a good option. Also, be aware of signs such as dizziness, lightheadedness and fatigue – if you start experiencing any of these, stop doing your exercise routines, rest for a while in a cool area and immediately drink lots of fluids.

You should also wear loose, comfortable and cool clothes. These clothes should be made out of fabrics that could let your body to freely breathe.

Regular exercise:

Bear in mind that it’s way better to do brief yet regular exercises rather than do a lot of routines for a day and then forget all about the routines for the succeeding days. Good regular exercise can be done in a matter of twenty minutes, twice or thrice a day. You may consider brisk walking for about 2 to 5 miles. Riding the bicycle can also serve as a good exercise option especially when the weather is cool. Just remember that the key thing to do is never to overexert and never to put too much strain on your body.

Make it a point to schedule your exercises at the usual time. Sooner or later, you will be able to establish a routine. Remember that once you already have a good exercise habit, the unwanted fats and flab will just slowly come off. Your muscles will also gain power and strength. Over time, changes will spring up and you will certainly see that those changes are for the better. You will also feel much better.

Don’t forget that exercise goes very well with a healthy, balanced diet. Diet and exercise will produce ideal results. Moreover, you should also get plenty of sleep.

It still holds true also that moderation is the key to good exercise.

Doing a lot of physically strenuous activities during the day can aid you to have better sleep — this is a fact. Experts say that in just 20 minutes to half an hour of exercise routines everyday will help lessen the probability of insomnia for a person. This article will discuss at least three kinds of exercise that can assist you achieve sounder sleep at night.

Making up your mind on which activity to incorporate in your routine is a personal choice. Think of activities that you know will bring fun and enjoyment for you because, truth be told, it is much easier to stay glued or loyal to an exercise routine if you enjoy what you do. You could start by deciding what time in a particular day could be the best time for you to do your exercise routines. If, for instance, your objective is to eradicate insomnia or lessen the probabilities of it, then you may want to do the heavy workouts in the morning and the more relaxing, lighter routines in the evening.

Below are the three kinds of exercise:

The first type is the one we call aerobic exercise. This is perhaps one of the most effective types that could be used to address the problem of insomnia. In just twenty to thirty minutes in a day (you could do aerobics, walking, jogging or bicycling), you could help pump up your heart rate in good condition. In fact, one study says that activities which necessitate you to use both of your legs have so-called tranquilizer effects that can help you sleep better.

Another type of exercise that has proven to be effective is yoga. Both the positions as well as the breathing techniques involved in yoga can help relax both the brain as well as the body. If you want to go to sleep, you may want to try doing 20 or perhaps half an hour worth of slow and gradual stretches. Do these about half an hour before you go to bed.

Meanwhile, the third form of exercise is one wherein you engage in the art (and science) of Tai Chi. This has reportedly proven to be very effective in helping address the problem of insomnia. A 2005 research found that people who did tai chi for about 60 minutes, two to three times per week, reportedly developed good overall sleeping habits and quality at night. Moreover, daytime sleepiness decreases. The expert researchers who conducted the study believed that tai chi’s benefits related to insomnia modify the circadian rhythms via breathing as well as relaxation.

Over and above, what all of these kinds of exercise have as a common denominator is that they assist in relieving stress as well as advocate or promote relaxation. By producing these, a person gets better sleep quality and gets to have better rest.

Given all these, however, it doesn’t really make a difference as to what kind of exercise you may prefer to do. Just by undergoing regular physical activities and making these part of your every day routine, you will surely stimulate an effective and natural way to address the problem of insomnia.

It is possible to get fit even if you lack enough time to visit your local community center or gym. To achieve physical fitness under a tight schedule, you could opt for home fitness regimes.

A home fitness regime will generally require minimal time out of your schedule. Even 20 minutes may be enough to get a thorough workout. You will find that as you get used to your home fitness regime, you can even do other things while you work out – like listen to good music, or watch your favorite TV show.

Types of Home Fitness Regimes

To get fit, you might rely on standard floor exercises, aerobics, dancing, Pilates, or Yoga (among other possible choices.) These exercises have been tested by others who became healthier and more fit by going through them regularly.

Some well-known standard floor exercises are leg lifts, push-ups, and even abdominal crunches. You can rely on standard floor exercises for toning muscles, keeping down your bodyweight, and enhance general physical fitness.

Speaking of aerobics, many people are still not familiar with aerobics classes though followers say aerobics is a great way to achieve physical fitness. If you patronize aerobics classes (either through tapes or DVDs you insert in your home entertainment player, or actual classes in your community), you may achieve a level of fitness that can be measured by your weight and activity level. Aerobics is based on the rule that you should increase the rate of your heart beats. If you do this, you will not only be exercising your heart, but other muscles as well. In the end, surplus calories melt away like magic.

If you enjoy dancing, you will be overjoyed to learn that it qualifies as a form of exercise. One expert in dance as an exercise regime is Richard Simmons who liked using old familiar tunes in his dance classes. You may also favor more modern dance forms instead which you can watch as DVD-format aerobics instruction classes. Not only is it fun to dance to well-loved music, it is great exercise too.

You could try out the Pilates types of exercises, which are devoted to improving the condition of stomach and spinal muscles and result in better overall body strength. Pilates seems to merge floor exercises and yoga into a unique type of home fitness regime.

The more adventurous may want to try out Yoga instead. Yoga has been around for centuries. It integrates unique exercise practices such as stretching with meditation. Meditation allows people to be relieved of stress while stretching helps one become more flexible while inducing lean muscle growth.

Whichever of these home fitness regimes you opt for, the point is to exercise your heart, get rid of surplus weight by burning calories, achieve relaxation, and be able to sleep well at night. If you can achieve all these fitness goals, then you are well on your way to reaching all your long-term home fitness objectives as well.

Apples have properties that no other fruits have and its benefits have been proven overtime. You will be able to get the benefits of these properties individually with other fruits, but an apple combines everything and makes it simpler. It has been shown over and over that if it’s not simple, easy and fast, people won’t take care of their health.

1-Apple contains Vitamin C. Vitamin C helps greatly your immune system. A lot of people who lack Vitamin C in their diet have poor healing, bruise easily and have bleeding gums.

3-Low in calories. A regular size apple has between 70-100 calories. Eating an apple when craving for candy or chocolate can make the desire disappear since apple in itself contains sugar, but gives you only ¼ of the calories.

4-Prevent Cancers. Notice the plural. We all know that cancer comes in several forms and in different places. Apples target multiple cancers such as colon cancer, prostate cancer and breast cancer in women.

5-Apples contain phenols, which have a double effect on cholesterol. It reduces bad cholesterol and increases good cholesterol. They prevent LDL cholesterol from turning into oxidized LDL, a very dangerous form of bad cholesterol which can be deadly.

6-Prevent tooth decay. Tooth decay is an infection that seriously damages the structure of your teeth, which is caused primarily because of bacteria. The juice of the apples has properties that can kill up to 80% of bacteria. So there you have it, an apple a day also keeps the dentist away!

7-Protects your brain from brain disease. This is something many people don’t know, and when you consider that your brain makes the person you are, it gives a whole new perspective. Apple has substances called phytonutrients, and these phytonutrients prevents neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinsonism.

8-Healthier Lungs. A research at the University of Nottingham Research shows that people who eat 5 apples or more per week has lower respiratory problems, including asthma.

9-They taste great! And not only that, they also come in many flavors and colors. Not in a mood for a green apple? Why not get a red one, or a macintosh! Their taste can vary greatly, but still give you all the apple benefits. Variety is an important element to maintaining your health.

On average, Americans consume around 20 pounds of apples a year, which comes to around 1 apple a week. Unfortunately, while an apple a week is better than nothing, it is nowhere close to being able to extract all the advantages apples have to offer. Eating apples is part of balanced and healthy diet than will increase your longevity, so why limit yourself to only 1 per week?

Everything from calories, to cholesterol and proteins and vitamins are written. The nutritional information is essential for those who want to eat healthy and know what’s in their food. I for one know that every time that I eat something, the first thing I look is the number of calories. It is very surprising sometimes when you eat a little piece of sweet and realize it has like 200 calories! It seemed for a second that I could finish the whole box myself.

But for those who cook food at home and have their own special recipes, do you know how many calories you are really eating? If you’re making a cake for example, do you know how much fat there really is or if the cholesterol or sugar level is too high?
It looks like someone recognized the problem and decided to make a nice little device that solves it. It’s called the Soehnle Diet Computer. This thing weighs everything even at the smallest sizes and displays everything like fat, protein and cholesterol.
If you’re a cooking fan who’s starting to get some extra pounds and wondering where they’re coming from, you should probably get one of these.

We all consider we have two main parts in our life: our professional life and our social life. Many people are so tangled up in their professional life that they forget their social life. They spent countless hours at work doing over time, either to make more money or because their boss asked them. Their friends constantly harass them to go and get out to make new friends and develop relationships with a partner and stop spending life alone.

Other people who are luckier and who either work from home or are entrepreneurs have both more money and more time. They are able to socialize and spend their extra free time going out and having fun. For some people, these people have the ideal life.

The third part of your life

The fact is, whether you are in one group or another, you are missing out on the third part of your life, and that it your health. For some people, their health is something that they think about occasionally from time to time. “I need to start exercising some time”, or “I don’t eat very healthy, I need to change”. But the problem is, they think about it for a split second every week or so, then forget and don’t change anything at all. Years pass, and they still haven’t started exercising or eating healthier.

Your priorities

The priorities of everyone are either their social and fun life, or their professional and career life. But let me ask you a question. How will you profit or live any of these lives if you are not healthy? If I tell you that your current health habits will not permit you to have fun anymore in 10 years, will that change your outlook?

The problem is that people are too focused about the present only. They think that exercising or not exercising this week or next week won’t change anything. And they are right! And they are right on that thing alone. The fact is that if you don’t exercise this week, or decide to do, it won’t change anything. So why am I telling you that health should be your priority and at the same time tell you that exercise won’t make a difference?

It’s because exercising or proper diet is not something that you have to think it terms of this week or next week, but in terms of a lifestyle. And only then will it make a difference. Instead of thinking if it makes a difference to exercise this week, how about thinking if it would make a difference if you exercised every week for the next 5 or 20 years. Will you still think it won’t make a difference?

Money and friends come and go. You lose money and you make money. You lose friends and you make friends. However, you only have one life. You lose your life, and it’s over.
